BOUQUET TYPES
Petite Floral Grouping/Nosegay Bouquet
Petite Floral Grouping or Nosegay Bouquet is the smallest bouquet type, only consists of a few stems of the same bloom. It’s something to hold, but nothing overwhelming. May also be chosen for flower girls or mother of the bride. Makes a lovely choice for a bride looking to make a quieter statement with her blooms. Nosegay bouquets generally have more greenery than the Posy bouquets. Great floral choices; roses, calla lilies, baby’s breath, or orchids.
Posy Bouquet/Round Bouquet
Posy Bouquet is a classic and popular bride bouquet style. The bloom formation is typically round in shape, while the stems are cut to the same length and bound tightly together. It has very minimal foliage or no additional foliage at all. Stems are usually wrapped entirely in ribbon for style. Posy bouquets are typically given to grandmothers, mothers, or bridesmaids for their walk down the aisle. Just like a round bouquet, they’re arranged into a round dome shape. Florals to consider; tulips, roses, peonies, garden roses, or ranunculus.
Round Bouquet is a classic bouquet style. Features one type of bloom or blooms of similar color and texture assembled together in a dome shape. It’s blossom on blossom. A Round bouquet can have little or no foliage. Ideal florals include; roses, hydrangea blossoms, or peonies. This bouquet style has been around for years and continues to be very popular. Perfect for a formal wedding. The Round bouquet makes for a beautiful statement when using one type of flower in a moderate to smaller size, if you are wanting a massive lush bouquet, you may want to consider the hand-tied.
Note: Posy and Round Bouquets are typically more floral-focused. The Posy bouquet is thought of the Round bouquets “little sister”. If you are a bride that wants something small and petite, go for the Posy.
Pomander Bouquet
Pomander Bouquet is a ball-shaped floral arrangement that hangs from a ribbon worn around the wrist. It is most often carried by flower girls.
Hand-Tied Bouquet
Hand-tied refers to any type of bouquet formed in the hand of a florist. The stems of hand-tied bouquets are tied with ribbon, fabric, or twine. A more romantic or rustic twist on the hand-tied bouquet will see the stems tied together just below the blooms and spread out at the base. This bouquet has a “fresh picked flower” feel. Ideal for garden, bohemian, or rustic weddings.
Boho Bouquet
Boho Bouquet is free spirited. Long loose stems with free flowing blooms.
Asymmetrical Bouquet
Asymmetrical Bouquet doesn’t look the same on both side. One side is usually higher than the other as well as one side may have a major accent that the other side does not. Like the hand-tied bouquet, this bouquet is a mix of florals and foliage which allows for variation.
NOTE:
Hand-Tied, Boho, Asymmetrical Bouquet styles are perfect for the bride looking for something that’s wild, free, and boho inspired. These bouquets are perfect for the outdoor, garden, or forest ceremony settings. If you want the fresh-picked feel, these bouquets are perfect.
*These bouquets can get very heavy because they are meant to look lush and full with greenery and florals, which can be harder to hold and carry for long periods of time.
Hoop Bouquet
Hoop Bouquet involves a circular base and attaching blooms and foliage to it in a freestyle manner. It is a popular bridesmaid option at a boho or earthy wedding and can range in costs based on the amount of florals used.
Crescent Bouquet
Crescent Bouquet follows the shape of a crescent moon with both sides curving down either horizontally or vertically.
Cascading/Teardrop Bouquet
Cascading or Teardrop Bouquet takes the shape of a waterfall, with a large concentration of flowers giving way to a looser spray that extends towards the floor. A more natural cascading bouquet will use vines or foliage loosely intertwined with blooms to achieve this shape. This bouquet is perfect for classic, themed, and garden weddings. If you are using lots of greenery with florals, this is a perfect option. They are simply stunning!
Pageant Bouquet
Pageant Bouquet also known as the presentation bouquet, the pageant bouquet is defined by how it’s held. This bouquet is cradled in the crook of one arm. It typically veers to a longer and skinnier shape. Ideal florals include; long stemmed roses, calla lilies, delphinium, and sunflowers. Pageant bouquets are a perfect choice for a bride who loves long stems. As they are meant to be held in the crook of your arm, they are not as practical for walking down the aisle.
Single-Stem Bouquet
Single-stem Bouquet is one large bloom sometimes adorned with a little extra foliage to mimic a lush stem and nothing else. It is a must that you choose the right flower- something big and interesting with some weight to it. If you are going for the romantic theme, this is a great choice. Choose a high-impact flower: calla lilies, sunflowers, gerbera daisy, hydrangea blossom, or long-stem rose. Dress up your single stem with ribbon or piece of linen for a powerful statement.
Composite Bouquet
Composite Bouquet is where you take pieces of a flower and make them into a single larger version of that flower. There is a lot of labor that goes into shaping and gluing petals into the arrangement, which means these bouquets are more expensive no matter what flower you choose.
